Kevan Feyzi - Trombone
Versatile trombonist Kevan Feyzi has performed and toured around the Midwest and West Coast in a variety of genres including Latin, jazz, blues, R&B/soul, classical, and even popular German! He regularly performs alto, tenor (the standard one), and bass trombones, plus euphonium. He holds music degrees from the University of Southern California and University of Wisconsin, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in trombone performance and literature.
When not with The Jimmys, Kevan can often be heard playing salsa—music he is passionate about. He the music director, arranger, and lead trombonist for Madison's Orquesta Latin Pride. He freelances in symphony orchestras as well, and has appeared as principal trombone in the Champaign-Urbana Symphony and the Beverly Hills Philharmonic.
In the past two years, Kevan has been fortunate enough to perform in some of the United States’ highest-profile orchestral venues including LA’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Center, and New York’s Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
In the more distant past Kevan has gigged with or been a member of Orquesta De Kache, Edi Rey Y Su Salsera, Megan Bobo & The Lux, Hazelnuss Das Music, the Madison Brass Band, the Madison Brass Quintet, the Madison Jazz Orchestra, and the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, to name a few.
Kevan has arranged and/or transcribed music for internationally-known artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, Mint Condition, Meghan Trainor, and Fall Out Boy, as well as Madison-area groups and schools. He has taught low brass privately since 2011 and has been a clinician at middle and high schools in Los Angeles and Madison.
